HP runs a large-scale applications business, employing Project Management Professional (PMP) certified project managers, International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) certified testers and International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) certified business analysts.
The New Zealand applications business operates an HP certified Centre of Excellence for Data Engineering and a Sun certified Java Centre of Excellence. It also has significant expertise in .NET, Java and SAP testing, and legacy migration.
HP New Zealand is accredited to handle work for HP clients based offshore and operates a state-of-the-art help desk based in Auckland. The company also runs one of New Zealand's largest print and mail distribution centres located in Christchurch.

Communications, Media & Entertainment
Telecom is the country's largest publicly listed company and dominant player in the sector. In 1999, it awarded HP New Zealand's largest ever information technology outsourcing (ITO) contract. Today, HP remains as the key provider of Telecom's IT infrastructure and information system services.
Commercial and Global
The world's largest dairy exporter, Fonterra, contracted HP in 2003 to provide its IT infrastructure outsourcing. The global contract covered more than 300 offices in over 30 countries and was later extended through to 2015.
Government and Defence
HP Government activities in New Zealand include:
- Ministry of Social Development: Managing mission critical services for the ministry including over one million beneficiary payments each fortnight and debt services
- Inland Revenue Department: Strategic planning partner, storage, managing mainframes and part of the KiwiSaver delivery consortium
- Department of Labour: Managing IT infrastructure, applications and global immigration systems
- Land Information New Zealand: Managing corporate systems and IT infrastructure for the Land Online service
- Ministry of Justice: Providing print, mail and address validation services for a range of correspondence relating to the notification and collection of fines
- New Zealand Police: A full range of IT services including applications and infrastructure support and development services
Financial Services
HP has played a long-standing role in the New Zealand banking sector, providing services to all of the major banks individually and to the industry as a whole.
HP hosts, supports and enhances many critical banking systems, and processes the vast majority of New Zealand's cheques and remittances. Banks also use HP document processing services to create and distribute customer financial statements and other communications. Through Interchange and Settlement, HP manages the clearing and settlement function for the sector ensuring that each day every payment reaches its destination.
Our People
HP is an active corporate citizen. Once a year throughout the month of October, staff take part in HP Global Volunteer Day, where employees voluntarily assist charities and community groups.
Go For Green Program
In 2007, HP Australia and New Zealand made a commitment to reduce carbon use by 25% by 2010 in a wide-ranging program that will affect most areas of its business. HP “Go for Green” program looks at three key areas within the organisation:
- Providing mechanisms to address employee carbon usage
- Developing internal initiatives to increase productivity and efficiency while reducing our ecological footprint
- Further developing service offerings that will allow HP customers to reduce their impact on the environment
