State Government Updates Business Process and Integrates Departments
The Michigan Department of State (DOS) experienced delays and errors when its legacy system and business processes issued documents such as vehicle titles and voter registration. The DOS enlisted EDS, now HP, to help streamline its business processes, and develop a new, underlying technical architecture as part of the Business Application Modernization (BAM) project. The DOS and Department of IT (DIT) established cross-functional work teams to determine which business processes needed changing, and what the changes would be. The partnership produced greater collaboration between the DOS and the DIT and an implementation plan for the technology that will support the new business processes, thus simplifying citizens' interactions with the DOS. The DOS awarded HP a five-year contract for complete implementation.
