SaskEnergy, which provides more than 323,000 Saskatchewan customers with affordable natural gas, wanted to improve service through an expanded Web site. We leveraged the existing Web infrastructure and shared data environment to create SaskEnergy's My Account. Today, customers can submit meter readings, pay bills, monitor energy usage and communicate directly with the utility's district offices online – and that information is automatically integrated with SaskEnergy's back-office systems. My Account, which was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget, has significantly reduced both labor-intensive manual processes and mailing costs. And it enables SaskEnergy to offer 24/7 service, as its competitors do, without expanding staff. In the first four months, more than 4,300 customers registered for the new service.
