This state government had a scattered Web presence with more than 100 agencies, boards and commissions managing their own distinct Web sites. So the state asked EDS, now HP, to build a Web portal and content management solution with e-commerce capabilities. The result is a projected, cumulative, five-year net benefit of $6,050,000, driven by a substantial reduction in operational costs, server consolidation, and a variety of other benefits – including avoiding the purchase of new CPU licenses. The project has an ROI of 54 percent and a payback period of one month. The reliability and security of the state's Web presence has improved dramatically. Today, residents have a more responsive government and can more easily access government services and information.
