Reducing Complexity Through Application Rationalization

Content starts here

Most communications service providers will agree that the top global issues in the industry include speed to market, convergence, consolidation and cost reduction. As these items cross the business and information technology (IT) realm, an integrated approach to providing solutions that support these issues is necessary.

One of these approaches is application rationalization, where the applications in support of the business function are analyzed and rationalized. This rationalization takes the form of eliminating functions and applications and consolidating applications and servers.

The author describes how CSPs can reduce complexity by rationalizing applications and the underlying IT infrastructure footprint. He provides detailed descriptions of the steps involved.
