Closing the Gap Between Networks and Applications

As little as twenty years ago, few organizations in North America were truly global. Today that number has increased dramatically as organizations compete in a business environment where location is no longer a limitation. Virtual teams collaborate from branch offices thousands of miles apart. Mobile workers travel and need secure, flexible, efficient access to data from many locations.And the result is greater demand on already overstressed networks and data centers.

In response to these challenges, organizations are centralizing and consolidating their data centers to reduce cost, decrease complexity, and deliver new applications to remote locations over largely distributed systems.

This paper will explore how partnerships between systems integrators, network vendors and applications providers are closing the gap between networks and applications and ensuring a smooth transition to modern application architectures. With this level of integration, IT organizations will be able to improve applications delivery through Networking Application Services that support globalization, virtualization, consolidation, and optimization.
