Government Journal: Government Transformation

Content starts here

For more than 40 years, HP has helped governments serve their constituents. From the very beginning of our work with the public sector, we have regarded government as a cornerstone of HP's clients – a fact in great evidence today, as more than 25,000 HP employees serve more than 500 government clients in 27 countries.

We believe there is an important synergy between our public and private sector businesses. Government projects frequently are very complex and on a large scale. They require high standards of quality and program management. As the public and private sectors move closer together, we find there is more and more potential to leverage solutions from the commercial sector to government, whether from our clients in finance, consumer industries, health or transport – in many cases, creating integrated managed solutions that span the public-private divide.

Today, governments face the challenge of operating in a flatter, more globalized world, and on all sides constituents expect more of government. Taxpayers want greater value from public expenditure. Citizens demand more responsive services. And from within, governments encounter pressure to reduce the costs of back-office functions and reallocate resources to the front line. In turn, these challenges reinforce our current efforts to modernize the operations of our government clients and meet the expectations of their stakeholders.
