There are important challenges facing critical operations in the global supply chain and ports. Ports are vital and complex environments exposed to security, terrorism, emergency and operational events which threaten each port’s operation and the national government supply chain. Government agencies, port authorities and associated organizations must identify, collaborate, prioritize and respond to these events across organizational boundaries and disparate business processes. HP’s Virtual Operations Center (VOC) provides a federated, real-time single view of an operational environment to enable a coordinated and collaborative response to any alert. The solution provides a network of VOCs which are tailored to the operational situation and role of each user. The VOC is “ virtual” in several dimensions: it spans multiple operational environments and boundaries and is not tied to a physical location – it adapts to a multiple display, ‘big board’ operations room or it can be mobile on a notebook. This command-and-control capability for critical operations is built upon a HP enterprise architecture that enables real-time data visibility for immediate situation awareness and for business intelligence supporting current and predictable events.
