In June 2010, Hewlett-Packard commissioned Forrester Consulting to survey the past, present, and future
modernization activity in 208 global organizations. Survey data revealed that organizations are modernizing
applications and technology to reduce costs, rationalize stagnant portfolios, and improve functionality to make their
organizations more agile and competitive. The sense of urgency is palpable: 78% of respondents will seek the help of
experienced external partners to help them mitigate risk, overcome barriers, and ensure the success of their
modernization programs.
