In this paper, Financial Insights examines the challenges global financial institutions face regarding security and operations risk management as they strive to safeguard both corporate and consumer non-public information, all while balancing risk exposure.

Also explored is how financial institutions are responding to increasing security threats, both external security attacks and internal fraud and unauthorized access, to avoid succumbing to the many risks associated with data breaches, including legal, brand, reputational, and financial. Also discussed is how these security threats fall under the larger umbrella of risk mitigation, and more specifically relate to operational risk guidelines included in the Basel II directive.
