SOA and Virtualization

Content starts here

Organizations across virtually every sector face globalization, increased competitive and regulatory pressures, and the need to respond faster and more effectively to changing market conditions. To compete in today’s demanding environment, organizations must transform themselves into leaner, faster, more agile enterprises. They must also streamline and modernize their IT infrastructures and their business applications.

Consequently, many organizations are migrating to an IT architecture that naturally lends itself to flexibility, cost-efficiency and competitive agility by leveraging two technologies:

Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) enables IT to be more responsive to the demands of business because flexible, standards-based components can be developed, combined and deployed rapidly to support business agility. SOA has become a critical enabler for companies to effectively respond to challenging market dynamics and capitalize on new business opportunities.

Virtualization can enhance an enterprise’s operational model by moving away from the constraints and limitations of physical infrastructures to better utilize resources – saving space, energy and money; improving operational performance; ensuring business continuity; and allowing enterprises to do more with less.

Service-oriented architecture (SOA) and virtualization naturally work together and are rapidly being adopted throughout IT environments. In this paper, we demonstrate how organizations can gain the synergies of SOA and virtualization and discuss how EDS can assist enterprises in leveraging these technologies.
