ATLAS Consortium Secures Additional Phase of DII(F) Contract

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) and ATLAS Consortium have agreed an extension to its DII (Future) (DII(F)) footprint to the Above Secret domain in a deal worth £191 million to 2015.

The ATLAS Consortium will deliver DII Increment 2c, which will provide a version of DII which is capable of handling material classified as Above Secret and allow different parts of the intelligence community to communicate more easily with one another.

This is an add-on to the ten year contract to modernise and create a single coherent MOD information infrastructure, awarded in March 2005. The contract now covers four increments with a value of £3.5 billion.

DII(F) will replace a number of information systems throughout the MOD with a single, more efficient information infrastructure. The programme is one of the largest IT infrastructure ventures in the world, providing enhanced capabilities to over 300,000 Users in more than 2,000 locations worldwide.

Increment 2c will support a number of key Operations and Intelligence Users across the MOD. Ultimately it will replace a number of legacy systems and is a vital part of the Department’s wider initiative to improve intelligence gathering and exploitation, known as Defence Intelligence Modernisation Programme.

This latest contract enhancement sends another strong message to the market of the trust that the MOD place in ATLAS to deliver this critical capability – fundamental to realising the MOD’s vision of a single integrated information infrastructure.
