Installation and Administration
Using ITIL®-compliant techniques, HP installs client application components required to host ERP/CRM development, test/quality assurance and production environments. Installation consists of configuring the hardware and network to HP specifications, loading precompiled and tested Operating Systems and utility software, and the installation and system configuration of the Enterprise Application or Customer Relationship systems. In HP parlance, ERP/CRM Enterprise Application Administration activities are the technical services for the operation of an ERP/CRM Enterprise Application.
Services in support of business transformation projects are excluded from the direct responsibility of Hosting Services and included within HP's Transformation and Implementation Services offering.
Application Testing
HP provides technical testing of the installed ERP/CRM enterprise application. The technical testing consists of infrastructure, hardware and software testing so that the servers, operating systems, the database layer, and the residing Enterprise Applications are operational and available. Although not included in Applications Testing, Business Process testing is included within HP's Transformation and Implementation Services and can be added to a client installation for use during the Application Testing phase of implementation.
System Monitoring
HP provides system-level monitoring of the Enterprise Application System for error to ensure SLAs are met and to proactively treat other issue that may arise.
File System Management
HP's File System Management Services consist of the ongoing management of storage allocation and current space usage, together with the implementation of storage allocation changes according to the predefined storage growth and capacity plan. HP's Premier, Enhanced, Essential and Departmental Storage Services are the offerings leveraged for the provisioning of these services.
Administrative Account Support
HP will manage the administrative accounts necessary to deploy and provide support for the ERP/CRM Enterprise Application.
Application Maintenance Planning
As a portion of HP's regular application activities, HP establishes a planning process designed to develop maintenance windows and provide coordination and maintenance support of in-scope application software. HP will maintain the integrity and currency of your software package through the planned implementation of vendor upgrades. This maintenance support is coordinated with the various other maintenance activities such as hardware, backup process and file system purging to provide comprehensive maintenance without unplanned system interruption.
System Documentation
All changes made to the Enterprise Application environment will follow an agreed change control process. Change that passes the control process reviews will be added to the online log for each client. HP maintains a separate logbook to document all environment changes for each client.
Technical Support Consulting
The HP services provide a pool of hours for advice or additional technical support consulting services for our clients. This consulting support is designed to accommodate specific ad hoc requests for technical support, which are not a part of the typical in-scope services.
Technical Support Consulting can be used to provide the following:
- Project activities such as manual period closing support, additional Go-Live support and the addition of new application modules
- Consulting for additional application administration services; for example, if additional monthly Enterprise Application system copies are required, this pool of hours could be used to perform an additional refresh.
- Special information research requests or guidance
Application Hosting Delivery Consultant
The role of the Application Hosting Consultant is to perform the following:
- Coordinate the delivery of the technical aspects of HP services including coordinating maintenance schedules for client copies, system copies and minor-release upgrades.
- Act as primary point of technical contact between the client and HP
- Provide industry and technical expertise for the management of implementation and ongoing support of services
Application Backup
Application Backup provides for coordinated backup of the application source, configuration files and database at agreed recovery points. This is a planning and scheduling activity for the coordination of services provided under HP's Storage Management Services.
Workload Balancing and Web Tier Support
HP's Workload Balancing services monitors and adjusts production system parameters required for balancing the system workload within a multitier (Web, application and database), multiserver environment.
Enterprise Application Database Support
HP uses industry-standard Database Management System (DBMS) processes and procedures to support the ERP/CRM Application database software deployed in the development, test/quality assurance and production environments. Ongoing database growth, capacity analysis and tuning are performed to make sure the agreed service levels are met. Activities include tablespace administration, database tuning, database reorganizations and database-related problem resolution.
Database Security and User Management
HP maintains DBMS database security and creates the standard support accounts for the installation and support of DBMS database software.
Disaster Recovery Services
HP can tailor a design strategy to meet Disaster Recovery requirements. Disaster Recovery Services provides coordination of infrastructure and deployment design, together with support and backup strategies so that application code and data can be recovered and maintained in case of a disaster at HP's data centers.
The Disaster Recovery Services include creating and maintaining a Disaster Recovery Plan and yearly Disaster Recovery testing. Typically, HP would recommend a two-data center solution, in addition to failover. Test and development servers would be maintained at the second HP data center.
Business Continuity Services, part of HP's Security Services, can be used to address the wider issue of enterprise risk.
High-Availability
Excluding agreed downtime during maintenance windows, HP is able to deliver application service to a High-Availability target of 99.95 percent.
This is achieved by ERP/CRM environment design, and depending on requirements, may comprise the following:
- Oracle Real Application Clustering (RAC)
- Server clustering
- Load balancing across multiple application servers
- Visualization, including Solaris Containers and VMWare
- Server redundancy design
- Network design with no single point of failure
- “Gold” vendor service agreements for all hardware and software
- Integrated data center provisioning and monitoring tools
- High-Availability data center services (power, heating/cooling and so forth)
- Availability and response of Support Technicians and Service Delivery Managers
Additional Test and Development Environments
Additional test and development environments can be supported on a temporary or permanent basis and are usually deployed in support of one-off and development projects.
Support Project Consulting
HP will provide a pool of consulting hours to meet requests for pre-existing production Enterprise Application systems. Support projects enhance an existing system or application environment and are usually set when the change exceeds the original scope of the contracted services.
Named User Database Security and Management
To support interfaces to other applications, HP will maintain the Enterprise Application named user database security and create the named user accounts required to access the DBMS database software. For more information about what HP Enterprise Services can do for you, submit a business inquiry.
