Windows 7 and HP
The general availability release of Windows 7 debuted in October of 2009. HP Enterprise Services has been ready to deliver planning and migration to the new OS since day one, and and is already helping many of our clients plan and migrate to the new Microsoft 7 OS. HP is a Windows 7 First Wave Rapid Deployment client as part of Microsoft's Technology Acceptance Program (TAP). To complement the ongoing image testing and TAP programs, HP has staffed a practice of trained and certified experts to deliver Windows 7. We continue to add staffing in anticipation of additional pilots and scheduling of client migrations to the new platform.
In support of our alliance partnership with Microsoft, joint engineering teams have done extensive testing to complete a standard HP Windows 7 image build. The engineering effort included documenting optimized processes for migrating our clients to the new image. Additionally, we have signed several early adopters that have become a proving ground for the image and deployment processes. HP’s expertise in technology, combined with comprehensive OS Planning and Migration services that are flexible to meet the specific requirements of our many clients, make our combined services a winning proposition.
Simplify PC Updates, OS Planning and Migration
Software and applications get better all the time, but that means your information technology (IT) staff spends a lot of time keeping your PCs up to date. Wouldn't it be great if the computers did the work for you?
HP makes this easier. Workplace Software Management Services provides the plans and tools to migrate to a new operating system (OS), as well as automatically and routinely install or update software, settings and patches as needed to keep each device synchronized and current, all with minimal effort from your IT department.
Streamline Software Update Processes
HP Workplace Software Management Services makes business sense. Not only does it streamline the software processes, it also:
- Lowers total cost of ownership (TCO): Significantly cut costs for onsite installations with Zero Touch automation technology
- Reduces time to deployment: Well-trained staff work to determine clients' needs, develop a transformation plan and effectively migrate to a new operating system in less time than in-house IT can do it
- Improves IT productivity: Operating systems and software can be deployed considerably faster than manual operations, while desktop imaging time may decrease from hours to minutes
- Increases consistency and timely security: Automate the delivery of software upgrades and security patches to ensure timely deployment across the enterprise
- Decreases impacts to end users: Preserve existing user data, profiles and access privileges to reduce user downtime and the number of help desk and field service calls
- Leverages alliance partner technology: Benefit from the innovative solutions developed jointly by HP and Microsoft
