Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI): Department of the Navy Support

For the Department of the Navy, oversight of NMCI is the responsibility of two organizations. The NMCI Program Office is responsible for overseeing contract performance and execution. The second group is a joint senior leadership council consisting of the NMCI Program Office and HP representatives. The council directs NMCI's overall policy, strategy and governance and provides departmentwide recommendations to the Secretary of the Navy, the department’s chief information officer, Naval Network Warfare Command (NETWARCOM) and the Marine Corps’ Director of Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4). NETWARCOM is responsible for network operations for the Navy, and C4 is responsible for network operations on the Marine Corps side.

The Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition and the PEO EIS are responsible for managing NMCI acquisitions. Overseeing purchasing are the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) for the Navy and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) for the Marine Corps. SPAWAR also tests and evaluates NMCI implementation for the Navy, whereas the Marine Corps Systems Command performs the same function for the Marine Corps.
