The EDS Public Internet Access service provides Internet access to the EDS*LINK Intranet community through multiple access points to support EDS employees globally. The service is used by employees to research information and to communicate with EDS customers and vendors. It is not an approved tool for direct or remote application support activities.
Employees must be granted access to the Public Internet Access service, which can be obtained by following the Order Process. All user access to the Internet is authenticated.
EDS Managers are responsible for Contractors they hire and must approve all requests for access to the EDS RASVPN service. Managers that approve access to the service accepts responsibility for their conduct of those individual contractors. Managers will be held responsible for any malicious or inappropriate activities performed by these parties that cause harm to or jeopardizes the integrity of the EDS network as covered by EDS Security Responsibility Policy, EDSSCP004.
The EDS*LINK Public Internet Service is available for EDS business and “limited” personal use. Your access to the Internet is logged and monitored for potential abuse of corporate assets for personal or unethical uses. You are personally liable for any inappropriate use of this service.
The EDS Public Internet Access service is comprised of gateways which are cache engines that only work with web pages or streaming media. Access to any special applications that work with anything other than basic HTTP type traffic will not technically work as all other traffic is dropped.
In compliance with EIT Security policies and standards, non-standard ports are not supported on this service. Currently, the service supports the following Internet applications:
